Good morning! Or rather good afternoon! Nowadays on weekends, I have a brunch instead of breakfast and lunch. I figured it makes me lose weight by combining two meals together; not to mention that I did an hour of exercise, had a long shower and then finally cooked brunch for myself and hubby.
It would be 1 pm when we have our brunch. Maybe late by most standards. Today I had decided to make miso noodles for myself. I already had the miso soup package.
I boiled some water in the pan and then added the mixture inside. I had a craving for strong seaweed taste today and the "Made in Holland" miso soup was not strong enough to give me the "oomph" factor. So I added in a piece of my own seaweed. Actually it was meant for making sushi but it does not matter for purposes of hunger!
I stirred the seaweed withe the miso soup mixture. By the way, it was a wrong move. Never follow this example because pretty soon, the whole seaweed disintegrated inside the water and I got a sort of specky greenish soup.
To the whole mixture, I added in slices of onion, carrots and Italian vegetables. If it gives you the impression that I am hardworking to be chopping everything up, thank you very much. Unfortunately I cannot take the credit. They consist of two pre-packed freshly cut vegetables. I used a little of each packet.
On lazy Saturdays, I normally use these vegetables. Yesterday though I was, depending on how you see it; fortunate or unfortunate to have a talk with a friend who happened to be working in the cutting vegetable industry for Albert Heijn where these packets are sold. Out of
curiousity, I asked her if the vegetables were washed after they were cut by the workers. She said that they were not washed but immediately packed soon after. The washing or rinsing process of vegetables only happen before the cutting procedure. I wanted to ask her if they wore gloves or not but I did not want to sound like a fussy aunty.
You see, I normally take foregranted what I read on the labels. According to the labels, the vegetables are already washed. I thought it meant washed before and after cutting but apparently it was washed only before cutting.
Who knows if the hands of the workers are clean or not? So now I wash all these pre-cut vegetables, doing extra work. However for the noodles today, I totally forgot. So if I get tummy-ache, I know why. He he. Don't have to go on a CSI probe.
I added half a packet of noodles in. I'm not sure what noodles they are - not as broad as the kuey tiaw but thicker than the mee. At the last go, I added some salad greens into the mixture.
Since hubby does not take fishy food and miso soup is one of them, I prepared for him chicken soup noodles. This was bought by hubby himself. It is instant but has real chicken meat, eggs and vegetables inside and sauce to go with it. You could only keep it for a maximum of one week in the fridge as it contains no preservatives. All I have to do is add hot water.
Hubby's noodles all ready. I sprinkled some fried onions on top as hubby likes them for every noodle or rice meal he has.
Hubby's chicken noodle soup all ready.
Here is my miso noodle soup. All vegetarian. Taste wise was alright but still a bit dilute despite the extra seaweed. So I added sambal from Malaysia to go with it. And then did I get the "oomph" factor.
After which I was able to go on a blogging breeze like now!
Yay to good food!
