Pst...pst...I changed my seat with hubby so that he could sit right in front of the barbeque to cook for me. Oh no, I'm not lazy....hubby just loves to cook too!
Hubby made omelette for breakfast the first morning. The second morning, he made tosti (toasted bread) with cheese and ham.
Our cosy farm house.
The trampoline! Jumped as high as I could until I could see over the bushes.
We had a fire place too. It was really warm sitting in front of the fire place.
Cold, mushy salad served at the barbeque restaurant. Not a fan of it, but nevertheless tried all varieties. Suffice to say, I survived!
Narrow staircases are good for the knee exercise. Maybe that is why they are narrow!
Last weekend, hubby and I joined a group of friends in the countryside of Drenthe. We stayed in an old farmhouse in the town of
For brunch, hubby made omelette and tosti. I was quite glad that hubby made breakfast as I am not adventurous with kitchens unfamiliar to me. Looking for the utensils and ingredients were a chore for me. Needless to say, as always, the omelette and tosti turned out good.
On Saturday night, we had dinner at a barbeque restaurant which adjoined our farmhouse. The owners of the farmhouse also managed the restaurant. We could choose from a few different types of meat which were pork, beef, chicken and turkey. These chunks of meat were then put on skewers and barbequed on top of the coal stove provided. We could also barbeque some courgette, bell peppers and onions. The food was delicious. Waiting for our food to be cooked while keeping a watchful eye made the food seem very tempting.
There was also a salad bar on the side. All the ten varieties of salad, with the exception of lettuce and tomatoes were very mushy and squashy. Nevertheless I was quite adventurous and tried every variety of salad available.
Lastly there was also the panga fish fillets and shrimp but hubby and I did not take any. Hubby just not liking fish and I was just too full for more. Had already been fed by hubby (he was sitting near the barbeque) a few times.
After the meal, hubby and some friends had chocolate fondue and dame blanche for desert while I just opted for hot chocolate milk. Once the coal had cooled down, I felt cold! Ice-cream would just not do!
We drove to Staphorst on the way home with hubby and a friend. Staphorst was on the bible belt of Holland . I expected to see smiley, old women in traditional Dutch clothing but it was not to be. Apparently when we arrived sometime in the afternoon, everyone was still at church. It was evident from the many bicycles and cars parked outside the town’s church.
We had an enjoyable time in Wapserveen. Our farmhouse also had a trampoline outside and I took great joy in flaunting my clumsy jumping skills alone!
PS : Photos will follow soon once I reach home from the library.
I love barbeque and i can't wait to drool over the pictures!!!

ReplyDeleteDidn't think of football, but that would have been a good idea. Probably have to fight real time if all the food went down into the coal!
